Habitat for Humanity of Roswell - Alive and Well

A letter from the President

Yes, the Habitat for Humanity of Roswell is Alive and Well. I hope this newsletter serves as an explanation to our partners who have asked me what is going on with our program.

HfH of Roswell was temporarily "under construction." A new board was established, a new family selection process was adopted, and I am now serving as President of the HfH of Roswell as well as Chairperson of the Development Committee. We have several fund raising projects in the works. We are looking for sponsors for an ongoing fund raising project and we are also working with a company to create charitable gift annuities to benefit Habitat.

We have many interested board members who are eager to get our Habitat houses under construction and to keep our HfH of Roswell affiliate growing.

While our HfH of Roswell was being reconstructed, the financial contributions slowly trickled to a halt! We are in dire need of your contributions. Now that HfH of Roswell has a clear view of the future, we hope that you will continue with your financial support. Thank you for your prayers and may God Bless you and your family.

Sincerely,

Keith Paceley
President of HfH of Roswell

Meet the Board

Keith Paceley, President
Keith is serving as President as well as the Chairperson of the Development Committee. Keith has been with HfH for 18 months. He is very concerned, devoted and dedicated to the HfH of Roswell.

Daniel Hutchins, Vice President
Daniel is the Minister of Youth at the First United Methodist Church. He moved from Farwell, Texas and has lived here for two years. Daniel sees HfH as a ministry because HfH is an ecumenical Christian organization that expands around the world. Daniel lives and works according to the scripture passage, "Do unto the least of thee."

Andrew Seaton, Secretary
Andrew is a Commercial Lender in training at Norwest Bank. He has worked with Norwest Bank for two years. Andrew comes to us from Indiana; he moved to Roswell a year ago. He says that Habitat for Humanity is one of the nonprofit organizations that he enjoys working with because, "Habitat is an organization that does not throw money at a problem, but provides a solution." "It is satisfying to see people gain from their hard work."

Karen Baker, Treasurer.
Karen is also a CPA and business entrepreneur. She has been with HfH for one year.

Gary Baker, Building Chairperson
Gary is a Local business owner. He has worked with Habitat for a year. Mr. Baker also served as president.

Sam Pettit, Family Selection Co-Chair.
Sam is the Director of Human Resources at ENMMC. Sam’s niece got him excited about Habitat because she would spend her summers helping to build Habitat houses in other communities. Sam mentioned that when a chapter started in Roswell, he would like to join. Well, Sam got his wish - he has been envolved with HfH for the past three years. He started out in the building committee and is now working with Family Selection. "Habitat for Humanity is an organization that gives people, who don’t ask for help, a pure and simple chance to become a home owner."

Sandy Beedle, Family Selection Co-Chair.
Sandy is the Communications Coordinator for Nova Bus; she has been with HfH since it’s beginning three years ago. Sandy has also served as secretary. Sandy and her husband Dennis both support HfH because it is Christian based and because HfH helps the community. "Families that only dream of owning a home can have their dreams come true with help from Habitat."

Janet Sanders, Public Relations Chair.
Janet is a Clark Specialist with the New Mexico Commission for the Blind. She started working with Habitat in August of ‘97.
"I selected to work with Habitat because I see a need for decent housing in our community. I like the fact that families who partner with Habitat not only help themselves but also help their community. I believe the philosophy that Habitat provides a ‘hand-up not a hand out’."

Pernell Baugham,Board Member
Pernell is employed with Nova Bus Co. He believes that HfH is a good organization for the community and he believes that anything that helps the community of Roswell is wonderful. "I am more than happy to volunteer my time when it helps our community."

Patty McClennan, Board Member
Patty is a Realtor with Prudential - Grieves Group Realtors.
She is currently working with the family selection committee. Patty said, "I have admired Habitat for many years. Being a Realtor, I enjoy helping people get a home."
