Michael Gottlieb has been employed by the Roswell Independent School District for more than 26 years.
He taught 6th grade at Missouri Avenue Elementary for 8 years prior to serving as Principal at Military Heights Elementary for 6 years. In January 1997 he became Director of Instructional Programs; Assistant Superintendent for Instruction in August 1999; and Superintendent of Schools in July 2004.
Mr. Gottlieb received his Associate Degree in Business Administration from New Mexico Military Institute; Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Master of Science in Education Administration degrees from Eastern New Mexico University and has completed post graduate work at Portland State University.
He has served on the Board of Directors for United Way, the Chaves County Detention Center Board, ENMU-R OT/PT Board, Chaves County Coalition for Youth, NM Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, and the Assurance Home. He was one of the founders of Character Counts! in Chaves County and is past president of that organization. He was named the United Way "Volunteer of the Year" in 2008.
