Our Principal is
Dr. Dawn Haynes. She leads 395 students in grades K-6, and
a staff of 24 teachers and 16 support staff.
The most popular place at El Capitan is Kid Korner. Run
by our Counselor, Mrs. June Waggoner, KK is a place for
students to go when they need some encouragement, some extra help, or just a hug or a pat
on the back. In KK you will always find plenty of adult
volunteers helping students, and helping teachers by grading papers and preparing
materials. Volunteers teach special classes in art, science, and computers.
El Capitan has a very active Conflict Mediation program.
We have 96 student mediators who help other students solve their playground conflicts.
Fifth and sixth graders are chosen as mediators, and all fourth graders are trained to
become mediators.
