I'm in the process of writing a book about a town in N.M. called Roswell. The story is fiction, but of course Roswell is not. Its not what you may think. My family moved to roswell almost 15 yrs. ago, thought it was a nice town to raise a family in, THEN, now it is not such a nice place to live, all the gang stuff and shootings are terrible, makes a person afraid to go out at night, something really needs to be done about this.....

Oh. On UFOs. Yes, I believe in them, as unidentified flying objects, until identified. Otherwise they remain unidentified. Our nearest stellar neighbor is 4.3 light years away and SETI said there's nothing there, long, long ago. But if they really are from other worlds, I can see why they would come here. Earth is a beautiful planet. I wonder if any of them visited Carlsbad Caverans while they were there.

I was raised in El Paso, Tx and have been living in Arlington, Va for the last 17 years. I returned to the El Paso area once, sometimes twice a year. Typically, I try to fly into Albuquerque and drive down to El Paso, stopping along the way to visit various small towns along the way (e.g., Hatch, Tularosa, Lincoln, NM). However, I have never made it as far east as Roswell. I did manage to drive my parents out to Carlsbad, NM last year after arriving in El Paso for a pit-stop. I will plan to visit your city in the near future and make use of this web site.

We like it a great deal because it reminds us of the wonderful trip we took at the end of March. Very helpful and informative site. I lived in the locale during the early 1950's at Orchard Park,the housing area for military personnel at Walker AAFB.My father was a flight engineer on B-29's with the 509th. Am unable to obtain any info at all on Orchard Park, maybe it vanished! Originally it housed German POW'S and later the same buildings were used as base housing. Any person looking at moving into apartments owned by republic development corporation should seriously reconsider their options. They do not have 24 hour maintenance on duty. They only come out on weekdays. They had infestation of roaches in the upper level apartments. Their septic systems back up from water levels. They are only interested in the money they bring in. Not the welfare of their tenants.

I went to school in Roswell in the fiftys & early sixtys....In my 1957-1958 school year the school took blood & gave us all dog tags...How would I find out why they did this? Everyone I have told said that was strange and it had never happen to them in school...Who could I contact to find out why this was done & what happen to the info they kept...Thank you....

Hi from Hampton,Virginia!! I will be coming to Roswell to relocate my Mom and then will be moving there shortly there after with my Son. My brother is a resident there with his family which has been there for several years. So I am really looking forward to the move. Me again from Hampton.. I meant to tell you what a priviledge it was to talk with the Director of Nurses at the Medical Center there I believe He was. He was so polite and informative of your facility there, telling me about what is available to me for employment and was helpful in making sure I had info sent to me on their Health Care Facility. This really makes all the differenc in the world to be welcomed so genuinely. I stumbled upon your website purely by chance. I was delighted to find a candidate in the 2000 elections (County Commissioner ballot I think) called 'Gynn Langford'.
