Habitat for Humanity Selects Family
Meet the Acuna FamilyHabitat for Humanity of Roswell is proud to announce that Richard and Melissa Acuna and their four children are the next family to qualify for a Habitat house. Richard is employed at ENMMC. Melissa works in their home as a housewife. The Acuna children - Rochelle, 10, Kristin, 8 1/2, and B.J., 6, are excited about their new house. One year old Amanda, will also be happy to have more room to run around in. Like many families, Mr. and Mrs. Acuna had a dream of one day owning a home, but with a growing family and the high cost of housing, the dream was just that - a dream. With the struggle of trying to make ends meet and with the ups and downs of everyday life, Richard and Melissa decided to let go and let God. As the family grew, larger housing was needed. "Affordable and decent housing is getting more and more difficult to find in Roswell," stated Richard. In order to keep the family in suitable housing that they could afford, the family moved several times. Melissa stated, "We have moved almost once a year." Richard and Melissa both agree, "We just want a place to call home." One day while looking for a phone number in the newspaper, Richard saw the phone number for HfH of Roswell. Hoping for a home, but in the back of his mind thinking it may still be a dream that was out of reach, he called to inquire about an application. The selection process took several weeks, but when Richard and Melissa found out that they were selected as the next Habitat family, words could not describe their happiness. The dream of owning a home will come true for Richard, Melissa, Rochelle, Kristin, B. J., and Amanda; the property at 601 S. Michigan will soon change from a cold empty lot into a dream come true for the Acuna family. New Partnerships
