"A Game From Erusiel!"

Our friend from Erusiel, Noitaercer, who was one of the original aliens who crash landed near Roswell was back for a visit. Since we had shared so much with him and was able to help his original stay on earth with our leisure activities, he felt that it was important to share with us from his home world of Erusiel.

He wanted to share a game!

Games are cross-cultural and intergenerational! If you can get past the different translations of the various definitions, you find that games are all played the same! They may have different names, but once play begins, the differences seem to fade away. Noitaercer understood this and wanted to share with us one of his favorites, Yxalag Llab!

As best as we can translate it from Erusian, we think Galaxy Ball is the Earthling equivalent!

Galaxy Ball is based on star travel, of which the Erusians have been doing for centuries. Earthlings are just beginning, but through documentaries like Star Trek Voyager, Independence Day, Men in Black and others, we are beginning to have a better understanding of space travel.

All games can be beneficial! Galaxy Ball is no exception.

Galaxy Ball promotes cardiovascular fitness and teamwork. Quick thinking is important and a desire to have fun is essential! If you are a little crazy, it might help, too!

We have tried to put the essentials of the game together and thought we would share them with you. If we have translated everything properly, we think the basics is similar to kickball.

Galaxy Ball is designed to help the participant explore new galaxies and to return to the home galaxy safely. The teams advance from Galaxy to Galaxy, picking up points along the way before time runs out on play. As they travel along, they have to watch out for other aliens who do not want them to get home and will try to vaporize them with their slime weapons and large particle throwers. We translated these to be water balloons and being struck by the ball in play.

Both teams play the field at the same time which can make for very interesting play!

Two Controllers, one from each team, roll the ball toward the home galaxy where the opposing team kicks the ball and tries to advance to Galaxy #1, #2, #3 and then back home with their cargo of points. Play starts in a counterclockwise direction but once in open space can proceed in any direction. The Home Galaxy can only be reached from Galaxy #3 after trying to fly through the slime fields to reach home safely!

Galaxy # 1 is worth one (1) point in cargo. Galaxy #2 is worth two (2) points. Galaxy #3 is worth 3 points. By reaching home by way of all Galaxies (1-3) the team receives five (5) bonus cargo points.

Team members are spaced in quadrants around the playing field. They can use the large particle weapons, one for each team, to try and vaporize your ship as you move though space. The particle weapon can be passed from team member to team member in order to gain an advantage. Other team members have been placed outside the playing area and are waiting to use their slime weapons. Participants hit by slime weapons and large particles when not in a safe area are out and go to the end of the line and wait for their next turn.

Unlike kickball, two participants can be parked on a galaxy at the same time. However, a team member can force another team member into open space where they can be slimed or particle bombed.

The Controllers determine when play continues. All play is stopped and the players can rest in peace when both particle bombs (ball) are in the hands of the Controllers. The next play begins when the appropriate ball is rolled into play toward the Home Galaxy.

Open space has a worm hole that can be used to safely travel through open space toward one of the galaxies, however the worm hole can only hold a maximum of two travelers from each team or a total of four travelers. The worm hole will automatically send a new team traveler into oblivion if entered at the wrong time!

Games are fun! Everyone plays games. Even offworld aliens like Noitaercer play them! When they do, they reap the benefits! Maybe we will expand on this one in the future!
