Welcome to Tell Someone They're Doing a Good Job Week. You're sure to spread joy everywhere you go if you speak these simple words to different people you interact with every day this week!

Wednesday is Bill of Rights Day, the anniversary of the day in 1791 when the first 10 Amendments to the US Constitution, known as the Bill of Rights, became effective. Thursday is the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party in 1773, during which Boston patriots dumped nearly 350 chests of British tea into the harbor.

Friday is Underdog Day, which salutes all of the underdogs and unsung heroes - the Number Two people who contribute so much to the Number One people we read about. Sherlock Holmes' Dr. Watson and Robinson Crusoe's Friday are examples.

WHAT'S HAPPENING?

At Wednesday's 10:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. storytimes stars in the sky, on the tree, and in kids' eyes are feature in stories, activities, and a star mobile craft. Saturday morning's 10:00 Christmas storytime includes an assortment of Christmas crafts.

BOOK TALK

Librarian Mary Beth Wright provides this week's book information.  Millennium, 1000 years, Y2K, countdown to 2000, 21st Century are words and phrases that keep popping up in every conversation. Why is this so exciting? Of course, the answer is that a millennium only comes about every 1000 years, and we will be here to usher in the new millennium. How awesome!

People mark the passing of time by counting the years. How can this only be the year 2000 when our earth is so much older and people have been around such a long time? Betsy Maestro explains this fully in her book, "The Story of Clocks and Calendars: Marking a Millennium."

If you would like to have tons of things to do while you're waiting for the new age to dawn, Bonnie Bader and Tracey West have written a great book.  "Countdown to 2000: A Kids' Guide to the New Millennium" is filled with wonderful ideas and activities to record these events.

Millennium mania has everyone thinking about New Year's Eve. If you need some ideas to help you ring in the new century, Susan Jones and Caterine Jones Juvan have written just the book for you. "New Year's Eve 1999!" will help you make memories to last a lifetime as we enter the third millennium.

Let the countdown begin by visiting your Roswell Public Library!

DID YOU KNOW?

Here are a few more easy ways to remove tough stains around the house from "The Old Farmer's Almanac 1999 Homeowner's Companion." To get rid of soap residue and hard-water stains in the dishwasher, put a cup or two of vinegar in a shallow bowl and set it in the bottom rack of an empty dishwasher. Run it through its cycle. You can also use powdered lemonade mix. Put two teaspoons in the soap drawer and run the dishwasher through its normal cycle. The ascorbic acid in the mix will brighten up the dishwasher!

To rid plastic containers of tomato sauce stains, rub them with a damp cloth dipped in baking soda. Or fill the stained container with water and drop in one or two foaming denture-cleaning tablets. Wait 20 minutes and then rinse.

If the top of your outdoor grill has cooked-on food and grease, first apply some dishwasher liquid or oven cleaner. Then place the grill top in a largeplastic garbage bag and let sit overnight. When you take it out, the caked-on dirt should be easy to wipe away.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: "It's called 'cold cash' because we never keep it long enough to warm it up." (unknown)
