You might even want to practice for National Juggling Day on Saturday. Since Saturday is also World Sauntering Day, you can juggle while you revive the lost art of Victorian sauntering - no jogging, lollygagging, sashaying, fast walking, or trotting! Finally, Monday is Baby Boomers Recognition Day, so get out your Beatles albums and think of all that you've accomplished since the sixties! WHAT'S HAPPENING? Wednesday's 10:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. storytimes and Saturday morning's 10:00 storytime will all feature Father's Day stories and crafts. BOOK TALK Librarian Mary Beth Wright provides this week's book information. There is something so special about being a grandparent. Liv Ullmann has written a rare book that touches the heart of a generation. In "Letter to My Grandchild," Ullmann shares many profoundly moving letters and unique photos that express the incomparable bond between grandparents and grandchildren. Many prominent people from around the world express their love for family in this small volume that is sure to bring back memories of your own grandparents. Dr. Ruth Westheimer advises readers to treasure their grandparents in "Dr. Ruth Talks to Grandparents: Advice for Kids on Making the Most of a Special Relationship." If you need some creative ideas for entertaining your grandchildren during the summer, you might check out Rosemary Dalton's "The Encyclopedia of Grandparenting: Hundreds of Ideas to Entertain Your Grandchildren." Before planning that once-in-a-lifetime vacation with your grandchildren, you'll want to read "Have Grandchildren, Will Travel: The Hows and Wheres of a Glorious Vacation With Your Children's Children" by Virginia Smith Spurlock. For all of your grandparenting needs, help is as close as your Roswell Public Library, which has many diverse books on the subject. DID YOU KNOW? June 15 is the deadline for the second quarter tax estimates. Here are some interesting tax "facts" from the Internet for you to consider. The "Gettysburg Address" contains 269 words, the Declaration of Independence has 1,337 words, and the Holy Bible (at least one version) contains just 773,000 words. However, the tax law has grown from 11,400 words in 1913 to 7 million words today. There are at least 480 different tax forms, each with many pages of instructions. Even the easiest form - the 1040E - has 33 pages of instructions, and all in fine print. The IRS sends out 8 billion pages of forms and instructions each year. Laid end to end, they would stretch 28 times around the earth. An estimated 300,000 trees are cut down yearly to produce the paper for all the IRS forms and instructions. American taxpayers spend $200 billion and 5.4 billion hours working to comply with federal tax laws each year, more than it takes to produce every car, truck, and van in the United States. The IRS employs 114,000 people; that's twice as many as the CIA and five times more than the FBI. Sixty percent of taxpayers must hire a professional to get through their own return. Taxes eat up 38.2% of the average family's income. For many, that's a greater portion of their income than is spent on food, clothing, and shelter combined. THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: "It's too bad we can't invest in taxes because they're the thing that's sure to go up." (unknown) JUDY ARMSTRONG, 624-7276
