Wednesday is Yell "Fudge" At the Cobras in North America Day. According to the sponsors of this day (Wellness Permission League), fudge makes cobras gag. All citizens are asked to go outdoors at noon, local, time, and yell "Fudge," the mere mention of which will make them skeedaddle!

WHAT'S HAPPENING?

At Wednesday's 10:00 a.m. storytime, the Dairy Classroom, provided by Southwest Dairy Museum and staffed by Denise Lightfoot, will feature the milking of a real cow. Half of the participants will visit the cow in front of the library on Pennsylvania while the other half attends storytime in the Bondurant Room. The participants will switch places at 10:30.

At Wednesday's 3:00 p.m. storytime, a wildlife biologist from Bitterlakes Wildlife Refuge will present a fascinating program about dragonflies and damselflies, with living examples and a huge collection of specimens. Participants will make a "dragon" fly to take home.

Alligators and crocodiles will be featured in stories and crafts at Saturday morning's 10:00 storytime. Children can bring in their alligators or crocodiles and win weird prizes!

BOOK TALK

Librarian Loretta Clark provides this week's book information. "Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue" is an old adage to begin a perfect marriage. To make a wedding special takes planning, and to aid in planning a special wedding, your Roswell Public Library has books, CDs, and cassettes that can be borrowed with nothing more than a library card.

"The Portable Wedding Consultant: Invaluable Advice From the Industry's Experts for Saving Time, Money, and Sanity" features proper etiquette and general planning strategies. It is full of tips and tidbits of wedding planning information, along with helpful hints from those in the know. From selecting the wedding gown through writing the thank you notes, Leah Ingram provides information from more than 60 professionals who specialize in travel, catering, photography, flowers, and dealing with divorced parents. Other titles include "How To Have a Big Wedding On a Small Budget" and "Bridal Bargains: Secrets to Throwing a Fantastic Wedding On a Realistic Budget."

Decorations to enhance the ceremony can be found in "Wedding Crafts: 40 Charming Ideas For a Unique, Personalized Wedding." For music, "Contemporary Christian Wedding Song Book" offers a variety of selections for the piano, and "The Wedding Album" on cassette tape or "Bride's Guide To Wedding Music" on CD provide many musical selections. To capture the memories on film, "Wedding Photography" offers advice and tips.

Children will enjoy learning about brides from many countries and other times with "Here Come the Brides." Two fun fiction stories involving the wedding rings are "Beni's First Wedding" and "Flower Girl."

Whatever the couple's age or the season, the Roswell Public Library is a great place to begin your planning for the perfect wedding!

DID YOU KNOW?

Here are two fun facts from "Here Come the Brides." For instance, when Queen Elizabeth of England married Prince Philip in 1947, their wedding cake was nine feet tall and weighed 500 pounds. In Colonial times, a woman received a wedding thimble when she became engaged. After the marriage, the rim of the thimble was cut off and became the wedding ring.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: "If you really want the last word in an argument, try saying, 'I guess you're right.'" (unknown)
