The Office of the City Attorney is designed to support the functions of the City. This office provides legal advice and counsel to the members of the Governing Body, The Administration and all City departments. The City Attorney prosecutes cases in Municipal Court when an attorney is representing the defendant. Additionally, the City Attorney defends the City in all lawsuits in which there is no insurance coverage. This office is active in filing and prosecuting cases against individuals and businesses that owe the City money. The City attorney negotiates, reviews and drafts ordinances, resolutions and contracts.
