The thing then was to offer them a stick of gum in the hall where everyone could see them accept gum from you. Marla and Bunny were offered hundreds of sticks of gum every day. Does anyone remember the TUB? The Teen Union Building. It was in the old National Guard Armory, and we had dances there. Remember "cruising the Y", and going to A&W;? Songs I remember from that time are: House of the Rising Sun, Louie Louie, Gene Pitney songs, Roy Orbison songs, Teen Angel, Neil Sadaka's Breaking Up Is Hard To Do--played over and over for hours on a little vinyl covered two tone record player. I'm 50 years old now, working at the edge of the Arctic Ocean, 330 miles above the Arctic Circle--I'm old and a long way away--but I remember it all. I always thought you were pretty and regal. I am sure you do not remember me, but I hung with the twins, eddie thielkins(passed away in 65).It is nice to know that someone else remembers Gene Pitney!!! I am sorry, but I have not been there,since 89. And we just stayed a night. I was saddened by the changes. But the high school is the same. No more Wylies or Greer's.
